Summer Financial Aid

You may submit a FARR (Financial Aid Revision Request) to initiate summer awarding prior to registration for the summer terms. Indicate your intended enrollment and if you will be changing a grade level after the Spring 2016 semester.  Your Spring 2016 Satisfactory Academic Progress must reflect that you are successfully passing all attempted credits and that you have maintained the minimum GPA requirement for your program level.  TEXAS Grant is not available during the Summer 2016 semester.

Summer Federal Pell Grant and Federal SEOG are only available to you if:
    • You did not use all of your Federal grant eligibility for the 2015-2016 academic year.
    • You must be making ‘Good’ or ‘Warning’ Satisfactory Academic Progress, or successfully complete the SAP Appeal Process.
    • You completed the 2015-2016 FAFSA application.
    • Based on your summer enrollment, the Pell Grant is automatically disbursed to your student account providing you have remaining eligibility for the year.  If you wish to decline the Pell Grant for the summer, you must submit a Financial Aid Revision Request to the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid to cancel your Pell Grant for the summer.

Federal Direct Student Loans are available to you if:
    • You have remaining loan eligibility or have elevated to the next undergraduate grade level as of the completion of the Spring 2016 term.
    • You must be making ‘Good’ or ‘Warning’ Satisfactory Academic Progress, or successfully complete the SAP Appeal Process.
    • You must be enrolled for a minimum of half-time enrollment. (6 credit hours for Undergraduate Students and 4.5 credit hours for the Graduate Students).
    • You completed the 2015-2016 FAFSA application.
Disbursement of Federal Pell Grant and Federal SEOG

If you received a Federal Pell Grant for full time enrollment during the Fall and Spring terms, you will not be awarded Federal Pell Grant for the summer term. To receive Summer Federal SEOG, you must be Pell Grant eligible.  If you attended and received Federal Pell Grant for a single semester, or attended and were awarded as Part-time, may have Pell eligibility remaining for summer 2016. If your summer enrollment is split between summer sessions that start on different dates, the Office of Student Financial Aid will only disburse the Federal Pell Grant/SEOG portion for your coursework that has already begun. Disbursement is made no earlier than 7 days prior to the first day of class for that term.

Disbursement of Student Loan Proceeds

You may not receive aid from multiple institutions during the same enrollment period (Summer 2016).  Your summer loan eligibility is affected by federal loan money awarded at TAMUK/TAMU-SA or another institution during the aid year. If you maximized the receipt of Federal Direct Loan eligibility during the academic year, you may not be eligible for additional funding. Dropping below half-time will result in cancellation of your Summer Loan award. Disbursement will occur once enrollment has been certified for half-time status (6 credits for undergraduate students and 4.5 credits for Graduate level students).
