Media Advisory: Award ceremony March 5 honors high school females interested in computing

SAN ANTONIO – Fifty-one female high school students from south Texas schools will be honored for their computing-related achievements and interests at the Seventh Annual San Antonio Area Aspirations Award Recognition Event at Texas A&M University-San Antonio on Thursday, March 5. It will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the Central Academic Building Vista Room (room 402).

The San Antonio Area Aspirations Community in Computing will recognize 10 award recipients and 41 honorable mentions who were selected based on their computing and IT aptitude, leadership ability, academic history and plans for post-secondary education.

The ceremony is intended to encourage young women to choose a career in computers, technology and cyber security, to assist and promote them as they pursue degrees in the field, and to advance diversity and equity

The ceremony is part of the national Aspirations Award Recognition organized by the National Center for Women and Information Technology.
