Strategic Plan Academic Years 2015
January 15, 2015 (for Spring Semester 2015)
Dear Jaguars and Friends of the University,
The University’s first five-year (2011-2015) Strategic Plan is now in its final academic year. Great inspiration, vision and dedication helped to guide what Dr. Hernandez-Ferrier led as a ‘pioneering journey’. As a campus community, we will take this opportunity to reflect on the successes and milestones that have been achieved and to reassess what is necessary for our future.
The inaugural Strategic Plan informed many key decisions and it provided an overarching framework for the Institutional Effectiveness Plans (IEP) from each area within the University community. The IEPs guided campus leadership through the regional accreditation process which was approved in December 2014 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). This achievement is a tremendous milestone and accomplishment that recognizes the contributions of the entirety of the A&M-San Antonio community.
As a campus community, we are committed and focused on student success. We recognize that Texas A&M-San Antonio plays an integral role in closing the achievement gap. We continue to embrace our mission to build a college going culture in South San Antonio, which empowers students in all aspects of their pursuit of discovery and lifelong learning.
As we plan for expanding our course offerings to welcome freshmen and sophomores, we will reimagine our future together. Abiding by the principles of shared governance our faculty, staff and students will come together to envision our future. Together we can build upon past successes to advance a strategic vision for our prosperous future. I envision a broad based inclusive process that welcomes all voices from across the university and the larger communities that we serve. I look forward to working with you.
Dr. Cynthia Teniente-Matson
